Bamin Automobile is a brand located in Minhou City, Fujian Province, with a history dating back to 1955, initially starting as a People's Liberation Army (PLA) repair company. It was later relocated to Xujia Village, Jingxi Town, Fujian Province, and named the PLA's 7427th Factory in 1965. Over time, especially in the 1980s, the name Bamin Automobile Factory gradually took hold. The factory is situated in Xujia Village, Jingxi Town, Minhou County, Fuzhou City, and has produced some distinctive off-road vehicles and station wagons.
Bamin Automobile once manufactured the BM212A hardtop version off-road vehicle, which was an improved model based on the original BJ212, featuring a hardtop body design and a curved front window, creating a stylish appearance. In addition, Bamin Automobile produced the CJY6420, a new type of SUV, of which 190 units were manufactured in 1987. This model was considered very handsome, with a tough style, and its black and white color combination made it look strong and not bloated. Bamin Automobile also introduced the BM1020T pickup truck model, as well as the BM6480 light bus, the latter's appearance resembling the Mercedes-Benz W123.
However, by December 2010, Fujian Bamin Automobile General Factory completed bankruptcy liquidation, and the buildings in the factory area were transformed into cinemas, dance halls, dormitories, and classrooms, continuing to exist in another form.
