Borgward is a long-established German automotive brand founded by Carl Borgward in Bremen in 1919. Borgward was once the third largest automaker in Germany with its revolutionary technology and comprehensive product spectrum, including cars, sports cars, buses, fire engines, boats, trucks, and even helicopters. The brand was a symbol of German innovation at its peak, but later declared bankruptcy in 1961 due to poor management.
In 2015, Borgward Group announced its "return" at the Geneva Motor Show. Its headquarters is now located in Stuttgart. Borgward Automobile now has dual production qualifications, producing fuel-powered BX series and new energy BXi series. The Borgward brand is positioned as a "German brand controlled by Chinese capital", inheriting the cultural heritage of German brands while integrating the financial advantages, talent advantages, and social resources of the Chinese market. Borgward Automobile releases two new models every year, gradually expanding its product lineup, and takes "CDB Borgward Safety" as its core brand value.
On November 29, 2022, the Beijing No. 1 Intermediate People's Court ruled to declare the bankruptcy of Borgward. Borgward's product line includes BX7, BX7 TS, BX5, BX6 and new energy model BXi7, of which BXi7 is Borgward's first new energy model, developed based on the e-Propulsion pure electric power platform.
