Fisker is an American electric vehicle manufacturer founded in 2005 in California by renowned automotive designer Henrik Fisker. Initially, the company focused on handcrafting supercars for customers and later shifted to the development of luxury hybrid sports cars. Fisker launched its first electric vehicle, the Karma, a plug-in range-extended supercar that attracted several celebrity clients, including Leonardo DiCaprio. However, due to operational issues and financial crises, Fisker filed for bankruptcy protection in 2013 and was ultimately acquired by the Chinese Wanxiang Group.
Undeterred, Henrik Fisker reestablished Fisker Inc. in 2016, focusing on the field of pure electric vehicles. In 2020, Fisker went public on the New York Stock Exchange through a merger with a special purpose acquisition company (SPAC), with the stock ticker symbol FSR. Fisker plans to set up a delivery center in China and intends to begin production there in 2024, with its first model, the Ocean SUV, expected to start deliveries in the first quarter of 2023. The Fisker Ocean is an electric SUV designed and engineered to compete with Tesla's Model Y. Additionally, Fisker has partnered with Foxconn to develop electric vehicles and has secured a battery supply agreement with CATL (Contemporary Amperex Technology Co., Limited). Fisker aims to leverage its unique design and history, combined with modern electric vehicle technology, to secure a place in the global electric vehicle market.
