Feihu Automobile is a mini-truck produced by the Huaihai Machinery Factory in Anhui Province. Its predecessor was the 9356th Factory, which began developing automobiles after transitioning from military to civilian use in 1981. In 1987, Huaihai Machinery Factory relocated from the Dabie Mountain area to Hefei City, and in 1989, it developed the third-generation Feihu brand automobile by imitating the Suzuki Carry ST90 model. The model was named HH1012 and included 25 sub-varieties such as single-row, double-row, van, special-purpose vehicles, and mini-vans, equipped with the original Suzuki 462 carburetor engine. At one point, Feihu Automobile produced tens of thousands of vehicles annually, with sales steadily increasing from 1990 to 1994, reaching an annual sales volume of 20,000 units in 1994, and establishing the Anhui Feihu Automobile Group. The brand was once recommended as one of the first batch of famous brands in Anhui, enjoyed honors such as recommended domestic quality products by the China Quality Inspection Association, and had records of export to Southeast Asia. However, for various reasons, Feihu Automobile gradually declined after 1995, was merged by Changhe Aircraft Industry Corporation in 1997, and restructured into Hefei Changhe Automobile Manufacturing Factory. In 2009, Changhe was acquired by Changan Automobile, and in 2013, it was changed to Hefei Changan Automobile Co., Ltd., where the currently popular CS75 PLUS is produced. The rise and fall of Feihu Automobile reflects the early development of China's automotive industry. Although it eventually exited the market, it holds a place in the history of China's automobiles and is a brand remembered by a generation.
