Guojin Automobile is a brand under Shandong Guojin Automobile Manufacturing Co., Ltd., which was established in 2016 and is located in the High-Tech Zone of Zibo, Shandong Province. It is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Shandong Guojin Group. With a registered capital of 1.5 billion yuan, Guojin Automobile is dedicated to the research and development, manufacturing, and sales of new energy vehicle complete vehicles and their parts. The management team of Guojin Automobile is composed of capable and determined individuals, with the chairman, Mr. Su Jinhe, recognized as one of "China's Top Ten Influential Figures in Industry," who has drawn a grand blueprint for the company's development.
The products of Guojin Automobile are mainly aimed at the B-end market and have been selected for batch procurement projects by various provincial government units. They have also been included in the 2018 procurement directory for Xiamen's taxis and the procurement list of leasing platforms such as Wanshun Car Rental. However, Guojin Automobile has also faced some controversies, such as its product, the Guojin GM3, being suspected of being involved in "subsidy fraud" issues. This model is mainly aimed at the B-end rental market, targeting the procurement of large customers and the online car-hailing market.
Despite being the first new energy passenger car enterprise in Shandong Province to obtain dual qualifications when it was established in January 2016, Guojin Automobile later encountered capital chain issues, leading to long-term vacations and arrears in employee wages. In addition, Guojin Automobile was once considered a potential acquisition target by Geely Automobile, but Geely was reserved about acquiring Guojin Automobile because it only had one new energy MPV model on sale with limited market competitiveness. As of 2023, Guojin Automobile has added bankruptcy review cases and has been listed as a party subject to enforcement multiple times, indicating that the company is facing severe operational difficulties.
