Nanyan Automobile was once a well-known automotive brand in Chenzhou, Hunan, with a history dating back to the "Jiangling 0五四 Factory" established in 1952, which was later renamed as Factory 7429, mainly responsible for tank maintenance. In 1971, Factory 7429 successfully manufactured the "Weixing" off-road vehicle, which was the first batch of cars produced by the 7429 Factory. In 1985, the factory began to trial-produce the 212 light off-road vehicle, which was initially called Chenzhou 212 and later renamed as Nanyan 212, gradually gaining market recognition and once selling well throughout the country.
Nanyan Automobile Factory was once a part of the Logistics Department of the Guangzhou Military Region of the Chinese People's Liberation Army, known as Factory 7429. This once-military enterprise no longer exists. Its former location is near the present-day Chenzhou Wanbao International City Wuling Square. The establishment of Nanyan Automobile Factory marked the beginning and development of the automotive industry in that area, not only producing off-road vehicles but also engaging in the manufacturing of light off-road vehicles.
However, as time passed and the market changed, Nanyan Automobile gradually faded from people's sight. Despite this, it still holds a place in the history of China's automotive industry and is one of the witnesses to the development of the automotive industry in the Hunan region. Today, Chenzhou Jiao Nanyan Chifeng Automobile Co., Ltd., as a continuation of Nanyan Automobile, was established on December 11, 2003, with the legal representative being Mei Song and a registered capital of 14 million RMB, continuing to explore and develop in the field of automobiles.
