SWM Motors is an Italian-bloodlined automobile brand that was announced to be born on July 27, 2016, at the 751D·Park Fashion Design Square in Beijing, after being wholly acquired by the Xinyin Group. The SWM brand was originally founded in Italy in 1971 and was once among the top three off-road motorcycle brands in Europe, renowned alongside KTM and Husqvarna, winning numerous awards in European competitions. In 2014, the Dongfang Xinyin Group wholly acquired the SWM brand and established the SWM Motors Design Center in Milan, Italy. In the same year, Huachen Xinyin built a modern industrial production base of 1704 acres in Fuling, Chongqing, with the Italian R&D center responsible for the exterior design of the models. The SWM Motors brand was officially launched in Beijing, China, on July 27, 2016, and formally entered the passenger car field, with Italian top-level design and Germanic excellent quality as its core competitiveness. The first model, "SWM Motors X7," positioned in the mid-to-large seven-seater SUV market, was listed in Chongqing on August 30, 2016. Since then, SWM Motors has launched several models, including the SWM Motors X3, SWM Motors G01, and on March 29, 2018, at the San Siro Stadium in Milan, Italy, released the first large five-seater SUV under the new G platform - SWM Motors G01. SWM Motors has design and R&D centers in Milan, Italy, and Chongqing, with a research and development team of over 1,000 people, rich experience in vehicle design, engine development, performance matching, and other areas. The brand also introduced the former chief designer of Toyota Europe and the former chief exterior designer of Audi, Cosimo Borkowsky, as the design director of the European Styling Design Center, responsible for the styling design work. The Fuling manufacturing base of SWM Motors adopts advanced design concepts, developed and designed by the same design institute as the BMW Tiexi factory, with an annual production capacity of 300,000 complete vehicles and 300,000 engines.
