Hangzhou Changjiang Automobile Co., Ltd., formerly known as Hangzhou Changjiang Bus Co., Ltd., was established in 1954 and is one of the first batch of designated bus production enterprises of the Ministry of Construction. Changjiang Automobile has over 30 years of experience in bus production and is one of the few professional manufacturers of trolleybuses in China. In 2013, Wulong Electric Vehicle Group invested 5.1 billion yuan for its restructuring and renamed it to Hangzhou Changjiang Automobile Co., Ltd.
Changjiang Automobile is committed to the research and development, manufacturing, sales, and after-sales service of new energy electric vehicles, possessing world-class intelligent automotive manufacturing equipment and fully mastering the core three-electric (motor, battery, and electric control) independent research and development technology. The company's product line covers a variety of new energy models on multiple platforms, including heavy, medium, and light trucks, buses, SUVs, and sedans, serving markets such as highway passenger transport, public transportation, special-purpose buses, and intercity travel.
Changjiang Automobile has been approved by the National Development and Reform Commission and became the second enterprise to obtain new energy vehicle qualifications after BAIC New Energy. By the end of 2017, it became the fifth new energy vehicle enterprise in China to obtain "dual qualifications." However, since 2019, the company began to face financial difficulties, including issues such as unpaid wages and suspension of production, and was ultimately ruled by the court to enter the bankruptcy liquidation process in 2020.
