The Tianyue automobile brand was once a new independent brand of Shanghai Volkswagen Automobile Co., Ltd. (now SAIC Volkswagen), which first appeared around 2011. The first model launched under this brand was a pure electric vehicle with the code name SVW7007, developed based on the Volkswagen Langyi model and named "Tianyue" (TANTUS). This car first appeared on the list of the 229th batch of new car announcements by the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, marking Shanghai Volkswagen's strategic layout in the field of new energy vehicles.
In terms of appearance, the Tianyue electric car is similar to the traditional Langyi gasoline version, but it adopts a closed front grille design to reduce the drag coefficient. In terms of power system, the Tianyue electric car uses front-wheel drive, with the main motor installed in the front engine compartment, with a rated power of 85 kW/115 horsepower and a maximum torque of 270 N·m. The acceleration time from 0 to 100 km/h is about 11 seconds, and the maximum speed can reach 130 km/h.
The battery pack of the Tianyue electric car consists of 180 lithium-ion batteries, with a capacity of 26.5 kilowatt-hours (kWh), and the longest range after a single charge exceeds 150 kilometers. Charging methods support home 220-volt household electricity and 380-volt industrial three-phase AC fast charging, with a fast-charging time of only 3.5 hours.
In addition, Shanghai Volkswagen has carried out extensive trademark protection for the "Tianyue" brand, which not only covers electric vehicles but may also extend to traditional cars, off-road vehicles, small cars, chassis, bodies, engine transmissions, and other related fields, as well as upstream and downstream industries such as automotive decoration and services.
However, the Tianyue brand did not achieve significant success in the market later, and there is little relevant information, which may have ceased operations or transformed. Currently, there is limited news and dynamics about Tianyue automobiles.
