UAZ (Ulyanovsk Automobile Plant) is a Russian automobile brand, affiliated with the Ulyanovsk Automobile Manufacturing Plant in Russia. The brand was established in 1941 and is headquartered in Ulyanovsk, Russia. UAZ was an important military factory during the Soviet era, providing a large amount of military equipment for World War II. After the end of World War II, UAZ transformed and entered the civilian vehicle market, converting its original military vehicles into civilian versions and equipping a large number of government and enterprise units in Eastern Europe.
UAZ is well-known for producing off-road vehicles, buses, and trucks, among which the UAZ-469 multi-purpose vehicle is famous for its extremely high driving reliability, passability, safety, and carrying capacity. In 2016, UAZ successfully launched the 2017 Chinese version of the "UAZ Hunter" all-terrain off-road vehicle and signed a general agency agreement with China UAZ Automobile Sales Co., Ltd. for sales within China, opening a new chapter for the import of complete Russian vehicles to China.
